The mastermind for manufacturing leaders who want to lead better - without giving up every evening to do it.
The line goes down at six and you're still there at eight. Something's always on fire — a machine, a shortage, a shift that showed up two people short. You carry it home in your head, and the people there get whatever's left. Most nights, that isn't much.
You're good at this. That's part of the problem. You're the one everything runs through, so nothing moves without you — and you can't remember the last time you left on time, or the last dinner where you were actually there instead of half back at the plant.
It doesn't have to stay this way. There's a way to lead the plant well without handing it your whole life.
→ Join AltitudeAltitude is a monthly mastermind for plant managers from different industries. Not a training. Not another system. A small group of people carrying the same weight you are — the 2 a.m. calls, the impossible staffing, the pressure from above and the pressure from the floor.
We meet a couple of times a month. The point isn't to swap tactics. It's to help you grow as a leader, get out from under the constant firefight, and stop sacrificing home to do the job.
Because the plant will only ever run as well as the person running it. Grow that person, and everything downstream gets easier.
And you don't do it alone. That's the whole point of a rope team.
Too many plant managers grow the company at the expense of their health, their family, the person they used to be. The trade gets made quietly, one quarter at a time — until they barely recognize the life the success was supposed to buy.
We don't believe that trade is necessary. So Altitude works all five faces of the mountain.
At Altitude we help you bring your plant into alignment, for both you and your people. We help you install and refine a simple framework that creates massive alignment for the entire organization. This is the secret to engaged employees and frees you up to step away from your business when needed.
Every culture is a reflection of the person at the top — you reproduce who you are, not what you intend. We elevate how you lead, so you can build a culture of excellence that holds even when you're not in the room.
The ceiling you keep hitting isn't made of circumstance — it's made of a story you've been telling yourself so long you stopped hearing it. This is where we find those stories, and replace them with a way of thinking big enough to hold the life you're actually capable of.
For most men the body is the bill that comes due quietly. We help you honor it, train it, and pay attention to what it's been trying to tell you — because it's the fastest way back to the man you were before you got so good at ignoring yourself.
You were given something to bring — to your company, to the people around you, to the life you're actually living — and most men bury it. This is where we dig it back out, and where the work stops being about the business and starts being about why you're here at all.
Most plant managers pour everything into the first face and let the other four erode. Altitude refuses that trade. You were never meant to win the business and lose the life.
You'll work together with a small group of like-minded manufacturing leaders over four quarterly sprints to elevate your plant and your life.
Before your first climb, you'll complete The Audit — a clear-eyed assessment across all five faces of the mountain. Most men have never actually stopped to take stock: how the business is really running, how you're leading, and where your mind, your body, and your soul truly stand. The audit gives it to you straight — not a score to feel good or bad about, but an honest picture of the ground beneath you. You can't chart the way up until you know that.
Once you have your audit, you and I sit down together, just the two of us. We'll walk through what it surfaced, name the face that's quietly costing you the most, and get clear on the climb that matters most for you right now. This is where your Route Plan begins — and where I make sure you start in the right place, with the right group beside you.
You'll be teamed up with a small group of plant managers from different industries to climb with. We meet twice a month with the same men every time, who know your plan and remember what you avoided last quarter. This is the room, and James is in it — where the work, the coaching, and the truth-telling all happen together. No performing, no pitching, no one measuring the space. Just men who help hold your weight.
Once a quarter the whole group comes together to look back honestly at the climb you just made. Then you create and refine the plan for your next 90-day climb, and make your committment to climb it. This is the spine of the whole thing.
A living one-page document that charts the path for your business and your life and what you're building this quarter. Your rope team sees it, supports you in it and holds you to it.
A one-day event for the whole community, in the mountains, in Colorado. The Gathering is included with your membership.
Optional add-on excursions designed to elevate your growth.
Nature and difficulty do something to a man that no call can do. But the mountain doesn't transform anyone on its own — the men who were there with you, and the room you come home to, are what make it stick. That's why every climb is wrapped in the work, not sold as an escape from it.
Multi-day events in the mountains of Colorado. Less summit, more stillness. Hiking, honest conversation, and the interior work that never quite happens on a call. The most accessible of the three, and the best place to start.
A week in an extraordinary place, built for connection and perspective rather than the summit. Think ancient trails and high passes, not crampons and cold. It's an immersion in another culture and one more bucket-list adventure crossed off your list.
Expeditions are real tests on real mountains. Cold, weight, altitude, and the honest possibility you don't summit. This is the one that asks the most of you, and reveals the most. It's also where profound transformation occurs.
→ Check out our upcoming expeditionImmersions, Adventures, and Expeditions happen throughout the year. These are optional add-ons that elevate your experience and growth. You don't have to do any of them, but they're always here waiting for you when you feel called to come.
Altitude is for the leader who wants to keep growing the business, but not at the expense of everything else. The health. The marriage. The years you don't get back.
For most of my life, I've been building things. Businesses, mostly.
And somewhere in all that building, I learned something nobody warns you about. How alone you can feel in the middle of it all — a full calendar, a good team, and still no one you can really talk to.
For years I looked for a group of men to climb with. Real ones. But everyone was either too busy, or too locked in on the next dollar to talk about anything underneath it.
I always believed there was more to life than that. I still do.
Here's what I've come to know, though. You don't need to climb a second mountain. You just need to climb the first one differently.
That's why I built Altitude.
It's for men who want more — more growth, more impact, a life that leaves something behind — but who know that more money was never the point. Men ready to become the best version of themselves, and to do it alongside others instead of alone.
The way we get there is simple to say and hard to do. Connection. Alignment. And the challenge of a real adventure.
If you're ready to elevate your business, by elevating your life, let's talk.
James Robbins is the author of Nine Minutes on Monday and The Call to Climb. For over twenty-five years he has been helping leaders elevate their performance. A sought-after speaker, James's work has been trusted by leaders from organizations such as NASA, FedEx, Toyota, the US Government, Johnson & Johnson and many more.
Altitude is a monthly membership. It includes bi-weekly calls with your rope team, the quarterly climbs, the route plan, direct access to James and the guides, and one day at the annual gathering in Colorado.
Visa, MC, and American Express are accepted.
No contracts — but we ask for a year. Real transformation doesn't happen in thirty days. It takes time to settle into your rope team and it might be six months in when one call changes everything for you. Your job is to show up and stay on the rope.
A one-time Outfitting fee covers your initiation which includes your audit, and your one-to-one call with James. (*Waived for founding members)
No refunds. Cancel anytime. To cancel, email support@jamesrobbins.com.
These are founder's rates, offered only while we build this community. They won't last as Altitude grows.
We have four intakes a year, usually a couple weeks before the start of each quarter. Our first intake will begin on September 17th.
No. Most work on the business. Altitude works on the business AND the whole person building it. The business grows as the result, not the headline.
Those groups are good at what they do. They put you in a room of peers to work on the business and the decisions in front of you. That's real, and it matters.
Altitude works on what's underneath that. We still work on the business — alignment, leadership, the ninety-day climb — but we don't stop at the boardroom. We go after the mind, the body, and the soul, because the ceiling on your company is really the height of the person running it. And we do it in a small brotherhood that goes on adventures together, not just sit around tables.
Two group calls a month (60-90 mins each), plus the Quarterly Strategy sessions that happen once a quarter (approx. 3 hours). If you join us on one of our trips, the time commitment will be clearly stated when you sign up.
Weird? No. Spiritual, yes. There's nothing religious about this mastermind but we do talk about the inner life, and use words like soul/psyche to describe that internal part of you that knows the right path for you and your business.
No. The core work is in the room, twice a month. The trips are add-ons when you're ready, but they're never required.
No. You start where you are. If you are considering one of our Adventures, or an Expedition, there will be a minimum level of fitness required. As for the Expeditions, none of our climbs are technical so you won't need mountaineering training.
The Altitude Mastermind is $500/month, or save by paying $5,000 for the year. This is a discounted Founder's Rate while we build this community.
You've spent years climbing for everyone else — the business, the team, the people counting on you. This is the climb where you stop leaving yourself at the bottom of the mountain.
We keep the room intentional. Tell us about your business and where you're headed. If it's a fit, we'll get on a call and walk through the next step.
